How to best manage tiredness and heaviness in the legs during these sultry hot days

Dr. Linda Togni, Naturopath

With the sudden increase in temperatures that we have been experiencing in recent weeks, it is easy to be more tired, lose many mineral salts, have greater heaviness and venous return in the legs to the point of having an increase in fluid retention. There is also a sense of greater restlessness due to poor restful sleep and night-time leg cramps.

However, in addition to the heat there can be various causes that can increase these symptoms, such as:

  • accumulated work tiredness
  • little hydration
  • greater eating habits, due to dinners and aperitifs
  • excess of toxins which causes the body to retain more liquids causing water retention or cellulite

Therefore, it is very important, especially in summer, to take conscious care of yourself so as not to risk arriving in September more tired and stressed than before!

Below are some tips and rituals that will help you experience a more peaceful and refreshing summer:

  • HYDRATE PROPERLY. To reintroduce the mineral salts lost through sweat and more, drinking adequately is also very useful to prevent the appearance of numerous blemishes such as cellulite, water retention, swelling in the legs and under the eyes. As the Ministry of Health recommends, it is good to drink at least 2 liters of water a day, obviously, if you do physical activity the amount of liquids must increase. For those who have difficulty drinking water, I recommend trying to prepare flavored waters, for example with mint, lemon and ginger. You will see that you will be able to hydrate yourself with the right taste!

  • EAT FRESH FOOD AND USE NON-HEATING COOKING Introduce fresh foods such as: cucumbers, tomatoes, courgettes, avocado, melon, watermelon, apricots, seasonal vegetables and fruit. Try to reduce salt but you can increase the use of spices and aromatic herbs such as: rosemary, mint, fresh ginger, parsley. Prefer pan-fried or raw cooking, and avoid cooking such as grilling, fried foods and roasts. This type of cooking does nothing but raise our body temperature!

  • USE SPECIFIC NATURAL REMEDIES TO RELAX and which can help renew your energy and your psycho-physical performance. In this case, you can take the food supplement in the morning Perfor Max. It is an adaptogenic, stimulating tonic, designed to give the body a general feeling of well-being. Inside we find: Vitamins, plant extracts such as Eleutherococcus, Spirulina and also essential oils such as Lemon and Mint. While, in the evening, to have greater relaxation and promote good sleep we can try the food supplement Tranquilla Mente. It is a precious support for the balance of the central nervous system, especially in moments of greater stress characterized by insomnia, agitation and anxiety. Inside it contains very important plant extracts such as: Valerian, Passiflora, Hawthorn, plants with sedative and myo-relaxing properties.

  • PERFORM SMALL REFRESHING AND DEFLATING RITUALS TO CARE FOR OUR BODY such as cold water jets and cold showers using Idrobagno IU. It stimulates peripheral circulation and has a toning, refreshing and anti-fatigue action thanks to the content of pure essential oils such as: Peppermint, Rosemary, Eucalyptus and Lavender. Finally, an excellent cream that you can use morning and evening on our summer days is BodyBi. This cream promotes peripheral microcirculation, relieves tiredness and heaviness in the legs and is super hydrating, promoting elasticity. Inside we find: Green Tea, Centella Asiatica and organic safflower and jojoba oils.

Let's remember that true well-being comes through awareness and flexibility!
